Kauffman was born in the Philippines, grew up in Sioux Falls and is currently a senior Fine Arts major at the University of South Dakota. Her show at Michelle's is a break from formal structure and realism. "Abstracts are a rebellion by artist Cristina Kauffman, a phase in the artist's development..'.I was kind of frustrated doing figurative portraits.'" Jay Kirschenmann writing about this exhibit. His article, "Abstraction and Rebellion, Young artist takes a colorful break from the figurative", was published July12th, 2007 in the Argus Leader Link magazine section. | |
